The best Christmas recipes with matcha tea

Christmas is coming, one of the most magical times of the year, and the ideal time to get together with the people who matter most to us to spend quality time together .

Do you remember that during the pandemic supermarkets ran out of flour and yeast? It was because many people dedicated themselves to cooking and baking at home to pass the time in a more entertaining way. Well, what I want to propose to you today is a bit along that line.

Why not combine two delicious elements such as pastries and matcha tea and make some healthy Christmas recipes ?

Christmas tree shaped matcha tea cookies

Ingredients :

  • 250 g. of butter
  • 250 g. icing sugar
  • 1 medium egg
  • 500 g. Of flour
  • 1-2 g. culinary premium matcha tea (you can buy it here )
  • 60 ml of water
  • Christmas tree shaped cutter

Steps to follow :

  1. Prepare the cookie dough by adding 1 gram of premium or culinary matcha tea.
  2. Mix sugar and butter until fluffy.
  3. Add the medium egg and mix everything until smooth.
  4. Enjoy watching the dough turn green when you add the matcha tea.
  5. Gradually add the sifted flour.
  6. Make a ball with the dough and leave it for an hour and a half in the fridge.
  7. Roll out the dough with a rolling pin and cut it with your Christmas tree-shaped cutter.
  8. Bake the cookies at 180º for 10 minutes. Be careful because each oven has different times!
  9. Decorate your cookies with the decorations that you like the most.

Matcha tea cake with Christmas topping

Ingredients :

  • 200 g. Of flour
  • A teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda
  • A teaspoon of Matcha Tea
  • Half tbsp of salt
  • 125g. salted butter
  • 200 g. light brown sugar
  • two eggs
  • Three or four ripe bananas
  • Two teaspoons of milk
  • Two teaspoons of liquid yogurt
  • One teaspoons of vanilla essence
  • 50 g. of white chocolate chips

Steps to follow :

  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and grease a 9 x 5-inch tin pan with baking paper.
  2. Then sift the flour into a bowl together with the baking soda, the Matcha Tea powder and the salt.
  3. On the other hand, melt the butter and with a mixer mix it with the brown sugar in a large container. Do this until you get a pale, fluffy mixture. Then add the eggs, one at a time, and beat this mixture again.
  4. Next, in another container, mash the bananas until they form a kind of puree and pour it into the mixture of butter, brown sugar and eggs. Stir everything well and add the milk, the liquid yogurt and the vanilla essence.
  5. Finally, gently incorporate the dry ingredients and the chocolate chips.
  6. You should bake the cake for approximately 40 minutes or until the toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean and the cake is fluffy.
  7. Once it cools down, after 10 minutes, decorate it by cutting a few slices of apple, blueberries, raspberries, grapes and pomegranates. You can finish off the decoration with a cinnamon stick and star anise. Enjoy it!


Matcha Tea Muffins

Ingredients :

  • 200 g. Of flour
  • 100g. oat flakes
  • 2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 teaspoon of Matcha tea powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Steps to follow :

  1. Once you have all these ingredients, preheat the oven to 180 degrees while you prepare a tray with 12 paper cups for the muffins.
  2. On the other hand, take a large container and mix in it the flour, oat flakes, baking powder, baking soda, Matcha Tea powder, sea salt and brown sugar. Remove all these ingredients until a kind of hole is formed in the center of the container.
  3. Next, mash the bananas with a fork in another bowl while adding the beaten egg and melted butter or olive oil.
  4. Add the chopped pecans to this mixture and stir little by little until well blended.
  5. If the mixture is thick or dry, you can add a little milk or orange juice.
  6. Take a spoon and pass this mixture to the capsules, also introducing a toothpick in the center. All that remains is to bake them for 20 minutes until the muffin dough rises or the toothpick comes out clean when you remove it. You can leave them like that or add icing sugar if you feel like it.
  7. And you could already eat the Matcha Tea muffins. Keep them in an airtight container for three days maximum, although surely they will not leave a trace much sooner.
